four months old

Wow! Four months already Bean? Really? Before you know it, you will be asking for the keys to the car and telling me to stop embarrassing you in front of your friends.

It’s been a great month. I feel as though we are all finally starting to get the hang of this whole thing. You’ve been so much more calm and predictable lately and it’s been easier and easier to get you out and about without as many worries.

And of course, you just keep getting cuter and cuter. Seriously. It’s weird how cute you keep getting. Call me biased, I don’t care. You’re damn cute.

There hasn’t been a huge change in a lot of the day-to-day likes and dislikes since last month. You are still pretty finicky (like most babies, I imagine) and can stand your swing one day and hate it the next. Enjoy Sophie’s company one moment and want nothing to do with her two seconds later. It’s still a guessing game everyday.

But you’re personality is definitely starting to become more evident. You still love to smile and laugh, but are also very serious and stoic. Just kind of observant and taking things in without much wavering one way or the other. This really doesn’t surprise me because as much as your daddy and I love to laugh and joke, our “normal faces” are pretty serious, often giving people the first impression that we are mad about something.

Then they meet us and realize we are a couple of goofy dorks, but that’s another story. I’m sure you will come to that conclusion on your own one day.

New things you are digging this month:

Standing while we hold on to your hands for support

Pushing up on your legs to stand from sitting while you hold onto my hands (seriously, you did this over and over again yesterday for the first time, baby squats, if you will. I’m convinced you’re a genius)

Max’s toy oball that you stole from him

Sitting at the dinner table on my lap while I eat (I think you want solids already as you eye every bite I put in my mouth)

When I kiss your neck (you LAUGH)

Hanging with daddy during the day (you guys have so much fun together)

Hanging with your grandparents

Skyping me while I’m at work

When I sing Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds” to you as we walk around the block before bed

Staring out the car window as we drive around

The morning (you definitely do not get this from me)

Freddie the Firefly

Snuggling with me in the morning on the rocker after our last feeding before I go to work

Drooling (like mad)

Sticking your fist, or anything else you can get ahold of, in your mouth (teething, here we come)

Talking (screeching) very loudly, for a long time

Discovering your feet

Things you are not digging this month:

Tummy-time - seriously…still

Being held any way except sitting facing out or over my shoulder looking back

Really, there is not a whole lot you don’t like that much. Or maybe it just seems that way because you were so fussy for three months, that this new stage seems like heaven. Seriously, you are so much fun these days, it’s hard to explain.

So far, four months rocks the house. It’s definitely getting more and more fun as the days go on and you learn and explore and discover new things. We are amazed at watching you grow and I feel like your daddy and I learn new things everyday just from witnessing you.

We love you baby girl. Happy four months!!!
